America’s Newsroom is looking for a sharp and motivated Associate Producer/Writer to join our fast-paced team. You’ll write compelling and conversational copy for anchor reads, guest tosses and teases about a variety of daily headlines. You will ensure your content is factually correct as well as clear, concise, and engaging. You should be able to flag editorial updates and pitch soundbites and video to complement your storytelling.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Write compelling scripts and snappy banners under deadline pressure
Manage reporter live shots and guest segments
Adapt quickly to breaking news and shifting priorities while ensuring factual accuracy and maintaining the tone and style of the show.
Stay on top of the latest editorial developments and update scripts accordingly
Pitch relevant visual elements and topical research to enhance your narrative arc
Watch & log live events for real-time highlights and breaking news.
Monitor & contribute to the show’s social media footprint
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
At least 3 years of major market newsroom experience
Exceptional script writing skills, grammar, and editorial judgment
Excellent understanding of social media applications
Solid news judgment and an outstanding grasp of politics and current events
Substantial control room and breaking news experience
Self-starter who can work independently as well as in a team
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience
Familiarity with iNews, Dalet, and VIZ preferred

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $60,000.00-70,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
