JOB DESCRIPTION

Plant Operations is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the 53-acre Fox Studio Lot in Century City.  

We have an amazing opportunity for an Assistant Manager of Plant Operations!  This dynamic leadership role provides an opportunity to join a vital, multifaceted facility team supporting a fast-paced, entertainment production and live sports broadcast complex.  The Assistant Manager of Plant Operations is responsible for the operational aspects of sustaining uptime of the FOX Network Center, several campus buildings serving mission-critical broadcast, control, and editing with associated data center environments and essential facilities, including a satellite broadcast (uplink/downlink) compound.  The role additionally helps manage tenant MEP support services over the 600,000 square foot complex, including two food service outlets.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and assist the Senior Manager, Plant Operations with on-site physical plant operations to ensure functionality, dependability, and consistency 24/7 with the supervision of eleven (11) union technicians
  • Apply practical experience to manage daily maintenance and operation of power, cooling, heating, plumbing, and related equipment/infrastructure including:
    •   Critical environments of data centers, edit suites, production control, and technical equipment rooms with related support infrastructure; UPS systems, standby generators, chiller plants, and cooling towers with N+1 redundancy
    •  Base building systems of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire/life safety systems supporting Class A office space
  • Promote and implement employee training and development, ensuring staff are adequately capable of performing their duties
  • Manage and apply change management protocol for significant work via Method of Procedure (MOP) / Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), and Work Authorizations (WA)
  • Develop, improve, maintain, and implement consistent plant management, engineering, and operational functionality:
    • Assess conditions to prioritize, plan, and implement repairs and improvements to equipment, infrastructure, and supervisory systems while maintaining day-to-day operations
    • Oversee the team’s work schedule supporting 24/7 on-site coverage
    • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions within the facility
    • Develop, initiate, and implement infrastructure and equipment maintenance, improvement, and refurbishment
    • Coordinate efforts and requirements with building occupants including third-party tenants
    • Monitor compliance with regulatory, governmental, and company standards and policies
    • Improve, maintain, and enforce written policies, procedures, and standards
  • Support ongoing construction projects and tenant improvements
  • Interface with FOX Studio Lot departments supporting infrastructure outside of building footprints
  • Communicate conditions, requirements, and status of preventative and corrective maintenance programs to staff, employees, consultants, tenants, and management
  • Assign, track, and report status on multiple concurrent tasks across all participants
  • Assist with administrative functions including managing vendor procurement and billing processes, purchasing, payroll, operational and capital budgeting, documentation, and record management
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other Development and Operations team members on lot-wide efforts

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical, or an alternate applicable engineering field
  • 5 years of progressive experience overseeing the installation, operation, and maintenance of mission-critical infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to operate and maintain critical facilities, administering and managing preventative maintenance programs using change management protocols
  • Versed in Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS), automation, and controls
  • Able to understand and navigate single-line diagrams, mechanical and electrical engineered drawings, and other system construction/record documents
  • Leadership, project management, and communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to collaborate effectively among multiple stakeholders
  • Developed critical thinking skills
  • Accessible and responsive 24/7 as necessary to address significant events

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

  • Experience with plant operations and infrastructure supporting technology/data centers, live broadcast environments, and similar mission-critical facilities
  • Competence in Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), Branch Circuit Monitoring (BCM), and Computer Maintenance Management System software (CMMS)
  • Professional Certification – Mechanical, Electrical, or associated field, Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), or similar accreditations
  • Understand the dynamics of a campus environment with multiple tenants and competing requirements

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $74,000.00-110,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
