We are seeking a dynamic and flexible Freelance Studio Technician to join our team. This part-time position involves performing essential duties on the studio floor during live broadcasts and recorded production sessions. The schedule varies from week to week, offering a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced and exciting newscast environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as a floor director during live and pre-taped broadcasts.
Read and follow rundowns, adapting to changes as they occur.
Communicate with talent and facilitate blocking movements and camera shot setup.
Operate studio ETC lighting console, JIB camera, Vinten robotic camera pedestals, and other equipment.
Load and operate the teleprompter.
Expect varied shifts, vacation coverage, overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; a degree from a university or college is a plus.
Five years of experience in a television station, with at least two years working as part of the crew for a live newscast.
Steadicam experience is a plus.
Schedule flexibility and an interest in learning in the newscast environment.
Solid foundational computer skills.
Ability to perform duties under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $12.00-15.00 per hour. We provide medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
