Fox Weather is looking for a dedicated and experienced Freelance Segment Producer to join our team in NY. The ideal Freelance Segment Producer is talented, organized, and hard-working with great editorial judgment. In this role, you will pitch stories, produce research packets, gather elements, and work closely with on-air talent. The Freelance Segment Producer should also be familiar with line producing and have experience in producing breaking news in the control room.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Be the driving force from start to finish on segment production, ensuring each piece holds true to Fox Weather's high standards
Pitch innovative story ideas and turn them into compelling on-air content
Work closely with our on-air talent, prepping them for each show
Showcase your versatility within our control room as you line produce, in addition to handing breaking news situations
Creative (out of the box) mind that can transform ordinary stories into extraordinary ones on a daily basis.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
Strong interest in weather-related topics ranging from the urgent bulletins that affect lives to the intriguing human stories shaped by the weather
An excellent sense of editorial judgment
The ability to remain calm and effective in the control room under high-pressure situations
Experience with iNEWS or Dalet editing software will be considered an asset
Must be able to work early mornings and weekends
A passion for storytelling that engages and connects with viewers on an emotional level
Fantastic organizational skills that will keep you cool, calm, and collected under high pressure / tight deadline situations

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $36.00-41.00 annually. We provide Freelancers medical/dental/vision insurance and 401k after they meet eligibility criteria and any State required time-off, in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
