JOB DESCRIPTION
FOX is seeking a Senior Broadcast Solutions Engineer with a broad background in both Information and Broadcast Technologies to lead in the support and architecture of broadcast infrastructure and applications. This role will provide project support on several critical FTS Broadcast initiatives in partnership with FTS Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a self-sufficient contributor and excellent troubleshooter, with the expertise and drive to take action and independently drive projects forward to ensure their successful execution.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Project Management:
- Lead and support the deployment and integration of 2110-based routers and monitoring systems across stations.
- Collaborate with the network team on FTS networking requirements and migrations.
- Assist with implementation of cloud-based solutions for broadcast and IT operations, including managing virtualization of broadcast systems.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project plans, ensuring all deployments align with technical and operational standards, and build documentation and training.
- Work closely with vendors to negotiate terms and ensure the successful deployment of commercial networks and broadcast systems.
- Collaborate with station engineers and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues, ensuring smooth operations and timely project execution.
Technical Expertise & Troubleshooting:
- Install, configure, and manage broadcast implementations and multi-platform content distribution systems.
- Evaluate new products and recommend technologies and system upgrades to enhance broadcast and IT infrastructure.
- Test and document system behavior, performance, and security, ensuring high availability and reliability of broadcast systems.
- Plan, design, and implement IT-based broadcast solutions, including graphics, editing, archiving, transmission, and monitoring.
- Establish and document deployment standards and procedures for supporting systems, ensuring consistency across all stations.
- Provide expert troubleshooting and support for broadcast infrastructure, particularly in high-pressure environments critical to on-air broadcast systems.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Hands-on experience as a Systems Administrator, IT Support, or Analyst role, with experience supporting a broadcast/live production environment.
- Deep expertise in SMPTE 2110 / Broadcast IP Routing deployments.
- Experience in scripting and automation; Python
- Extensive experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft Windows & Linux-based server operating systems and applications.
- Hands-on experience with deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Cisco or Arista networking hardware.
- Strong understanding of the full TCP/IP stack and its routing protocols.
- Proficiency with monitoring, network diagnostic, and network analytics tools.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Occasional night and weekend shifts, as well as travel to 17 FOX TV stations across the nation as needed for special events and projects.
- Hybrid position, location TBD (any FTS site or 1211)
- Knowledge of Broadcast systems (i.e.WideOrbit, Bitcentral, Chyron) and applications
- Familiarity with broadcast file workflows, play-out systems, and broadcast transmission technologies including microwave, video over IP, multicast, unicast & CDNs.
- Experience in cloud-based solutions for media applications (i.e. AWS)
- Experience with production & master control automation, as well as products from Ross Video, Evertz, Sony and others.
- Working knowledge of Palo Alto, Network Access Control appliances, and various systems.
- Functional understanding of live news production workflows, media asset management, and professional video format standards.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $140,000.00-207,500.00 annually for high cost labour markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $116,600.00-172,900.00 annually for all other US locations. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
