FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

WTTG/WDCA – Photographer (Regular Full-Time)

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is part of Fox Corporation and Fox Television Stations, world leading and valued media brands, airing the most hours of original programming in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia local television market. If you possess these qualities, then this could be you! Our newsroom provides comprehensive coverage of local and national news stories across multiple platforms such as broadcast, digital, and web. You must be passionate about local news and delivering exceptional television broadcast, digital, and streaming programming to the market. The ideal candidates will have an ingenious approach to showcasing content across multiple platforms that make an impact online, offline, and in person. Candidates should provide examples of their work that display how they tell stories and captivate an audience through the lens of the camera. You will come to us with at least three years of recent on-the-street news experience.

JOB HIGHLIGHTS

  • Utilize digital camera and editing equipment to tell captivating stories.

  • Use of different camera and media formats to apply techniques appropriately to each story.

  • Highly skilled in Edius editing, After Effects, Bitcentral, Panasonic, Sony cameras, and iNews.

  • Utilize drones to provide cinematic perspectives and enhanced visual experiences.

  • Drone camera operator training for Part 107 pilots.

  • Operate Live U packs.

  • Shoot, capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms.

  • Assignments include breaking news, investigative features, sports events, and political news.

  • Daily collaboration with reporters, editors, managers, and other staff members.

  • Participate in editorial, department, and station meetings.

  • Think critically under pressure and work professionally on individual assignments and as part of a cohesive team. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

WHAT YOU ARE BRINGING

  • HS Diploma (or equivalent). Vocational/technical school or Associate’s Degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a news photojournalist. Mid to major market preferred.

  • Strong communication skills and good judgment.

  • Live ENG remote skillset and experience with ENG truck operation, field editing, and satellite trucks.

  • Excellent photography, lighting, audio, non-linear editing, and computer skills.

  • Superior news judgment.

  • Creative and detail oriented.

  • Ability to take direction and work under deadline pressure. Consistently display a professional demeanor with the ability to stay cool under pressure and handle strong personalities.

  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.

Candidates must submit link/reel with samples of recent work.

FOX 5 DC / FOX 5 Plus is a 24/7 operation. Candidates must have flexibility in scheduling evenings, early mornings, weekends as well as working all shifts in a 24/7/365 breaking news environment. Must be able to work overtime, holidays, and varied hours. Candidate will be required to join the I.A.T.S.E Local 819 union.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $47.89-47.89 per hour for Maryland, plus any other compensation offered. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
