We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and self-motivated individual to join the Fox Weather team as a Producer/Director! This exciting, innovative hybrid role will see you at the helm of your show's production from beginning to end. The position is perfect for someone who is passionate about producing engaging weather news and who possesses the leadership skills and vision necessary to direct inside the control room. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, make decisive editorial decisions, work efficiently across multiple software platforms, and multitask effectively within a high-pressure environment.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Help drive content development and production for FOX Weather streaming primetime
Collaborate closely with on-air meteorologists to create compelling weather programming, while managing the production workflow with efficiency.
Respond rapidly with weather-driven editorial decisions to deliver urgent weather alerts and news.
Oversee the management of timing, audio levels, and the operation of automated technical directing software during broadcasts.
Work in tandem with the technical team to prepare the control room and studio prior to going on air.
Be prepared to handle a variety of tasks, no matter the scale; tasks range from cutting video to directing the show, all while ensuring a visually captivating and brisk-paced program.
Participate in daily team meetings to develop strategies for FOX Weather programming
React to breaking weather news and ensure content is being covered as news happens
Support planning future coverage in anticipation of high-profile events
Work in partnership with newsgathering resources to ensure the best content from internal partners and external sources is highlighted in our coverage
Provide feedback on FOX Weather user experiences
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field of study, or equivalent experience
6+ years of professional programming and production experience, rundown management, and live control room skills
Strong editorial judgement and ability to write/copy-edit clear, accurate and informative scripts
Experience with talent management
Knowledge of weather and meteorology, including forecasting tools and technology
Experience in local and national news and current affairs, and breaking news
Decisive and skilled management of a control room
Strong ability to recognize stories with high potential for compelling television
Excellent organizational and managerial skills, as well as the ability to create a collaborative environment that fosters teamwork
Enthusiasm for getting new products and platforms going and the creative energy to ignite great ideas and highly motivate direct reports and staff
Excellent communication skills, a great collaborative spirit, and the ability to work under intense deadline pressure
Must have a passion for weather - weather experience is a plus!
