JOB DESCRIPTION

The Director of Network Architecture is responsible for the design, planning, implementation, and management of the organization’s network infrastructure with a primary focus on Cisco and Arista technologies. This role ensures the network is scalable, secure, and highly available to support business objectives. The Director will lead a team of network architects, work closely with IT leadership, Network Services Critical Response team and collaborate across departments to align network solutions with business goals.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network Design & Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive network architecture strategy, with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security using Cisco and Arista technologies.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the design, deployment, and management of the network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, data center networking, and cloud connectivity.
  • Leadership & Team Management:  Lead and mentor a team of network architects, ensuring continuous skills development and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation.
  • Network Security: Collaborate with security teams to implement and maintain best practices for network security, including firewall management, VPN solutions, and network segmentation.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with Arista, Cisco, and other network vendors, ensuring optimal service levels, evaluating new technologies, and driving procurement strategies.
  • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues. Optimize network infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.  Tune network alarming and monitoring system to eliminate noise making operations team more efficient.
  • Project Management: Partner with the Critical Response team & PMO on projects, including upgrades, expansions, and integration of new technologies, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Maintain up-to-date documentation of the network infrastructure and ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of IT and other technology leaders to align network architecture with broader IT and business strategies.
  • Ability to strategically influence and communicate complex ideas, anticipating varying perspectives and objections.
  • Mentor, motivate, and develop the technical capabilities of existing engineering team to cultivate a culture of collaboration and excitement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.
  • Continuously learn and adapt to emerging changes in networking to ensure that the approach the team take is always at the forefront of innovation while maintain backward integrability. 
  • Drive the adoption of new tools, frameworks, and techniques to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the team’s work. 
  • Integrate analytics and monitoring tools to track network health, system performance, and the efficiency.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams to define requirements, manage user expectations, and deliver high-quality network solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or relevant experience.
  • Experience in network engineering, architecture, or related roles, with experience in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven track record in designing and managing large-scale, complex networks in enterprise environments.
  • Expert level knowledge of networking protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF, MPLS, etc.), network security principles and best practices, cloud networking (e.g., AWS, Azure) and SDN technologies, network automation and programmability (e.g., Python, Ansible), Spin-leaf architecture.
  • Extensive experience with Cisco and Arista network solutions, including routing, switching, and network automation.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware NSX).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $161,500.00-230,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
