JOB DESCRIPTION

The FOX Business and Data Platform Team is looking for a Senior Director of Analytics who will lead the team responsible for building a BI strategy, ensure its adoption across the organization, enable more data discovery and build a wide spectrum of analytics products to meet the business users where they are for our Research and Ad Sales Teams. The role will lead, develop, and grow a high-performing business intelligence engineering team. This role will be critical to the success of the data team, with an emphasis on nurturing talent, creating culture, driving performance, and creating solid partnerships with other tech teams and business stakeholders. The successful candidate will have a background in influencing talented data engineering teams while simultaneously having the technical acumen to enable the teams in building compelling, customer-focused solutions.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with leadership within the enterprise data team to establish and deliver the vision for the FOX data platform

  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align BI efforts with overall business objectives and sales strategies

  • Develop strategies to improve sales performance through data analysis and insights derived from business intelligence (BI) tools

  • Ensure that the team designs, develops, and delivers high-quality, performant, scalable, well-tested, documented, and sensible technical solutions suitable to high-impact technical challenges

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and KPIs to track sales performance and provide actionable insights to stakeholders

  • Be a mentor to the team to help them understand the media domain, relate it to the business and data strategy decision, and break down complex data and technology concepts

  • Build awareness, increase knowledge and drive adoption of modern technologies

  • Strike the right balance between lending expertise and providing an inclusive environment where others' ideas can be heard and championed

  • Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in BI and data analytics and recommend innovative solutions to enhance BI capabilities

  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability

  • Seamlessly switch from diving deep into technology with engineers to driving high-level, strategic discussions

  • Partner with other tech teams to achieve objectives in a seamless, collaborative fashion

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the group

  • Develop and manage the BI budget, including resource allocation and expenditure tracking

  • Communicate BI strategy, progress, and results to stakeholders at all levels of the organization

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field 

  • Experience in data strategy, building data teams with a focus on analytics and BI technologies in a dynamic, digital-focused environment

  • Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing BI initiatives, preferably in a large-scale enterprise environment

Technical Knowledge:

  • Extensive knowledge of BI concepts, methodologies, tools, and technologies (e.g., data warehousing, ETL processes, data visualization, predictive analytics)

  • Proficiency in BI platforms such as Tableau, Power BI, QlikView, or similar tools

  • Strong understanding of modern data platforms and designs - data warehouse, data lake, lake house, data mesh, real-time streaming etc.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across departments

  • Project management experience with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities effectively

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to align BI initiatives with organizational objectives

  • Strong understanding of data management concepts and Data Modeling 

  • Expertise in delivering high quality, highly optimized, result oriented data engineering solutions

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen, with a demonstrated ability to drive operational efficiency through process automation and prioritization

  • Sees the big picture and is fully aware of technology and business directions

  • Ensures all planning done on the area level is supportive of the strategic business plans

  • Appropriately delegates while maintaining accountability; sees that projects are assigned by workload and capabilities

  • Completes projects accurately and on time

  • Clarity of communication with leadership and the team will be a significant factor to drive performance

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $185,500.00-240,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
