JOB DESCRIPTION

Big Ten Network is searching for a Manager, Business Operations to join its team in Chicago, IL. The Business Operations team plays a support role in the organization, providing critical support for other BTN departments (production, sales, sponsorship, marketing, programming, digital, engineering, etc.).

As the Manager, Business Operations, your primary responsibilities will include planning and executing company events and sales/sponsorship hospitality events at tentpole B1G Conference events, procurement, distribution, and tracking of BTN’s ticket allotment, procurement and management of BTN’s premiums inventory (swag), and oversight of building/office services and support.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan, organize, and execute company events, including the all-staff meeting, holiday parties, employee appreciation events, and Founders Day
Plan, organize, and execute sales/sponsorship events at B1G tentpole events, such as B1G Football Championship Game, B1G Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments, B1G Football Media Days, etc.
Play a key role in the planning and execution of corporate events, such as the BTN Big 10K and BTN Experience
Manage BTN’s ticket allotment for Big Ten football and basketball games, including procurement from B1G Conference and schools, as well distribution to internal and external parties
Manage in-office meals, including all company lunches, production meals during football, bagel days, etc.
Negotiate and secure hotel contracts for B1G Conference tentpole events and other major events (i.e. CFP, NCAA Final Four), as necessary
Supervise the procurement, organization, and tracking of BTN’s inventory of company apparel and premiums
Supervise the day-to-day management of BTN’s office services, such as office/kitchen supplies, package shipping/receiving, mail distribution, ID badges, and BTN parking program
Serve as a primary point of contact with 600W building management, security, parking, and catering teams
Oversee BTN studio tours for groups, teams, VIPs, or visiting executives
Work closely with Human Resources on employee onboarding, employee incentive programs, employee volunteer opportunities, and health/safety planning
Coordinate with FOX Sports business operations on company-wide initiatives (i.e. Founder Day), ticket requests, etc.
Direct supervision of Coordinator, Business Operations, and Receptionist

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

5+ years of experience in event management, business operations, operations, or office administration
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple large scale projects/events simultaneously
Effective communication skills, as this individual will be communicating with both internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced office environment
Strong team player with an attitude of “no job is too small”
Customer service mentality
Basic understanding of college sports

NICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree
Experience at a sports and/or media entity
Basic understanding of the Big Ten Conference
