JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX Weather is looking for a Producer to join our Content Core team in New York.  As the Producer, you will hunt and chase weather news to drive the conversation on all FOX Weather platforms. You will curate both exclusive and original reporting that can be used in live programming, articles on foxweather.com, social media posts, and more. The Producer will create and distribute content and assist in traditional newsgathering duties. A passion for weather news combined with curiosity and flexibility to jump into any task will help you excel at FOX Weather.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support all functions of FOX Weather’s Content Core team

  • Chase and confirm news on and off the record for FOX Weather to drive the news cycle

  • Assist with logistics for field teams, ingestion requests, live shots, and studio requests

  • Pitch ideas and find exclusive stories for use on various distribution platforms

  • Hunt and clear user-generated content

  • Write stories for foxweather.com, post to FOX Weather social platforms, and cut video as needed

  • Monitor analytics to help make strategic content decisions

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years' experience working in a newsroom environment

  • Excellent news judgment, strong communication skills, and a collaborative nature

  • Knowledge of various content management, multiplatform newsgathering, and collaboration tools

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced newsroom

  • Social media savviness

  • Passion for weather; weather experience is a plus!

  • Willingness to work a variety of shifts including weekends, nights, or early mornings

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $75,000.00-85,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
