Content creators -- this kind of opportunity doesn’t pop up in local newsrooms very often. So, take note and get those resumes ready!
KTBC FOX 7 in Austin is hiring a producer to create, plan and deliver the most compelling, informative, and entertaining hour of morning news in the city. This is an ultra-competitive news market, but Austin’s Morning Show is growing! We’re looking for a content rockstar who can move seamlessly from breaking news and severe weather coverage to live segments and studio guests that showcase everything our diverse community has to offer.

You’ll need a sense of urgency and mastery of the control room environment and be ready to take live coverage on linear, streaming platforms or both at the same time. You’ll need to maintain a close relationship with our digital team to ensure that everything we do is tailored for the platforms we serve and that each piece of content we create works in support of our growing digital footprint. Other skills we’re looking for in the ideal candidate include concise, accurate and audience-focused writing skills, the ability to edit video in support of live and studio segments, plus knowledge of social media best practices.

When your show is over, you’ll jump into planning mode for the next day and beyond, working collaboratively with your teammates. You’ll participate in the editorial process along with anchors, reporters, assignment desk team members and managers to develop future stories and segments, keeping FOX 7 ahead of all local news outlets in creating the most compelling content for our audience.

Requirements:  Minimum 2 years’ experience as a producer in a small or medium market is preferred. Bachelor's Degree in journalism or a related field preferred. Must be able to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and multitask. Ideal candidate has familiarity with newsroom computer systems, graphics programs and video editing software. Candidate must be able to work flexible hours/shifts/shows. This is a morning news position, but other shifts may be assigned as needed, including nights, weekends and holidays. Must have a valid credit card and driver's license.
