JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a confident, highly motivated, proactive Booker for Special Report w/ Bret Baier. The Booker is responsible for securing interviews with high profile politicians, newsmakers, and everyday people and will plan the panelists’ appearances in advance. You perform your best under deadline pressure and know what it takes to get the exclusive. You must have excellent people skills and understand the importance of building and maintaining relationships with both potential guests - and your co-workers. You thrive in a collaborative team environment and want to contribute to something great every single day.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Book guests under the intense deadline pressure of a daily live show

  • Plan panelists’ appearances in advance

  • Track down difficult-to-find people using social media and other tools

  • Work collaboratively with co-workers to determine the best approach to securing high-profile interviews

  • Deliver during high-pressure and breaking news events

  • Conduct in-depth research and pre-interviews (as well as suggest questions for the host)

  • Pitch unique stories and guest

  • Coordinate and produce segments

  • Research a wide range of electoral, political, international, and economic topics

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years of prior television (or similar) experience

  • Flexibility to work outside regular hours due to the demands of breaking news

  • Willingness to see the big picture, and put the show's best interests above all else

  • Ability to work independently or with a larger group as needs dictate

  • Experience in a live control room

  • Strong writing skills and editorial judgement

  • A passion for current events

  • Social media savviness

  • Experience with I-News and Dalet is a plus
