The Big Ten Network (BTN) is looking for an Account Executive to join their team in New York. The Account Executive is responsible for determining key decision makers at agencies and clients in assigned territory and putting together action plans and presentations resulting in the purchase of media commitments. The Account Executive will work closely with Sales Planners to steward all accounts. You must be able to effectively communicate TV and New Media to both Digital and TV buyers/agencies and have extensive knowledge of both TV and Digital media/strategies in order to effectively sell cross-platform and 2nd screen opportunities. 

This is a salary plus commission based role. 



  • Set up and make face-to-face calls at agencies and clients in order to present and close agreements 
  • Determine the plan of action for each client by matching BTN’s programming with TV and New Media sales opportunities and client objectives 
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and agencies through one-on-one meetings and client entertainment functions 
  • Utilize strong negotiating skills and an understanding of the dynamics of new and traditional media to obtain the highest possible price for BTN inventory 
  • Work with the Sales Planner to track accounts, minimize issues, and develop recaps and other post-sale merchandise materials  
  • Develop and maintain expertise on sports, industry trends, and BTN’s programming to deliver the highest price for inventory to BTN and value back to the client 
  • Work alongside 3rd partner Big Ten Partners in the New York marketplace to ensure consistent messaging within the marketplace 



  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience at a media company or network selling Digital and TV inventory 

  • Comprehensive understanding of integrated platforms and how New Media and Television are planned, bought and delivered 

  • Strong overall knowledge of the media industry 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations both on-one-one and in group settings 

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook 

  • Competency in media math  

  • Superior negotiating and interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong business relations   

  • Good organizational and project management skills  

  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a high-pressure environment 

  • Overnight out of state travel and work on evenings and weekends for entertainment commitments 



  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • Experience with Wide Orbit

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $102,500.00-137,500.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
