Lawrence Jones Cross Country travels from coast to coast to get its finger on the pulse of the American people and bring them the top news, politics, and culture headlines. In addition, the team strives to tell stories and reach voices that go largely unheard. Cross Country is looking for a creative Booker/Associate Producer who is attentive in searching for guests, as well as creating and cultivating relationships. The Booker/Associate Producer for Lawrence Jones Cross Country must also be able to react to any breaking news. The Booker/Associate Producer must also be well-read and be able to effectively navigate social media. The Booker/Associate Producer is responsible for offering creative segment and guest ideas each week.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Work well both independently and in a team environment
Work in a fast-paced environment where changes happen minute to minute, hour by hour
Effectively communicate a guest’s point of view on various topics
Conduct thorough research and compile well-rounded pre-interviews
Sift through past TV and print interviews to find relevant sound and perspective on guest topics
Manage deadlines for a live show, while also managing future and long-term bookings
Work in a fast-paced environment where changes happen minute to minute, hour by hour
Work with Booking Unit on breaking news stories and special events
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field of study is preferred, or equivalent experience
1-2 years of experience in television
Previous booking experience
An extensive rolodex and can book high-profile guests, celebrities, and people at the center of major news stories
Strong editorial judgment and newsgathering skills
A passion for current events
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where changes happen minute to minute, hour by hour
Willing and able to work under tight deadline pressures while juggling long-term bookings
