JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox Cable Network Services, LLC ​seeks a Senior DevOps Engineer.

Job Duties:

Responsible for application and service management in AWS for the MediaCloud division at FOX, using modern DevOps principles and tools of the trade, including Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, and Chef.  Deliver end-to-end solutions from initial concept through finished solution in the area of automated build, deployment, monitoring, server, and cloud infrastructure and services.  Collaborate and work with a team of passionate engineers who strive to demonstrate continued excellence in the field of DevOps and automation and work closely with application developers, architects, and testing organization.  Understand requirements, from a user perspective, and move from there to a working prototype that captures the essence of what the product should be.  Code and configure tools; assemble and integrate technology across disparate platforms.  Understand systems, data structures, modern scripting and enterprise level languages as well as open source tools that can and should be leveraged to solve problems.  Duties also include: 1) Responsible for building, managing and supporting AWS core services including VPC, EC2, Auto scaling, Elastic Beanstalk, Elastic Load Balancing, Direct Connect, Route53, S3, Glacier, Storage Gateway, EBS, CloudWatch, Lambda Functions, IAM and RDS.  2) Maintain continuous and predictable product and service reliability by implementing process controls and identifying reliability requirements with quantifiable measurements for existing and new Linux systems, software and web services to prevent or to reduce the likelihood or frequency of failures.  3) Troubleshoot OS, applications and networking while leveraging internal teams for solutions.  4) Provide solutions, automation and tooling for multiple platform service teams; and administer, monitor and deploy large scale systems and service solutions on AWS.  5) Install, manage and deploy containers using Docker swarm and Kubernetes both on-premise and in AWS.  6) Monitor current system and services utilization and capacity planning to ensure that there is adequate system capacity and service redundancy to meet future demands.  Telecommuting permitted from any location in the U.S.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate software development or related development experience with DevOps, including experience deploying and administering AWS services; working with Docker and Kubernetes; and Linux/Unix administration

Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Physical Sciences, Engineering or related field, plus three (3) years of software development or related development experience with DevOps, including experience deploying and administering AWS services; working with Docker and Kubernetes; and Linux/Unix administration

Experience must include two (2) years of writing Terraform or Cloud formation scripts; automation and configuration management using Chef, Ansible or Puppet; CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, CircleCI and Bamboo; and code and binary repositories such as Bitbucket, Git, Artifactory and Nexus

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) AWS technologies such as S3, EBS, EFS, Glacier, SQS and SNS; 2) Lambda functions, EC2, ECS, Route53, VPC, WAF, RDS, Aurora and DynamoDB; 3) Java application servers such as Jetty, Jboss, Tomcat and Websphere; 4) HTTP servers such as Apache, Nginx and IIS; 5) New Relic, Sysdig, App Dynamics, and DynaTrace; and 6) Python, Groovy, Ruby and Bash
