The Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) is a member of an Agile-oriented cross-functional team of software engineers, business systems analysts, software testers, technical writers, and graphic designers who leverage software to solve real-world problems in the Container Handling industry. The SDET actively develops new test automation code and maintains existing test automation code with a high degree of quality, leveraging strong software design and test automation principles, ingenuity and creativity, attention to detail, and analytical skills to devise unique and innovative ways to test software solutions.

You are responsible for writing test code across all tiers of an N-tier architecture, including client-tier, middle-tiers, and back-end (data/database), for automation testing integrated software systems with third parties, developing and maintaining robust test automation suites, building and leveraging configuration and deployment automation tools. You will have the opportunity to work with Business Systems Analysts to determine customer and product requirements and their applicability to product code and test code; with Manual Testers to better understand detailed test cases and scenarios, and to help debug issues; with Application Support to understand, debug, and resolve issues found by customers in production or UAT environments; and with Product Engineering Management to deliver and track status on team, product, customer, and company initiatives.


  • Set up test frameworks and help teams set up automation infrastructure

  • Develop detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans, test specifications, test cases, and test scripts and present documentation to ensure technical completeness and accuracy

  • Author common API's and libraries for test automation

  • Automate acceptance test by leveraging their coding skills

  • Collaborate with distributed teams for automation design and development

  • Extensive code coverage through unit testing

  • Find and report bugs with accurate, technically complete, and concise steps to reproduce

  • Participate in product requirement documentation reviews as well as design reviews

  • Deliver testing initiatives that guarantee availability and stability of systems output

  • Provide status of the testing and interpret execution results

  • Input documented data conditions to execute test cases, process tests, generate test results and analyze test results to ensure software quality standards are met

  • Collaborate with software developers and architects to ensure database integrity and product quality

  • Working with the existing QA and development team members, implement a comprehensive test strategy

  • Maintain existing tests and write manual and automated tests while features are being developed

  • Test and validate software to ensure that it satisfies requirements and is free from defects

  • Analyze the root cause for testing failures and open appropriate tickets with sufficient findings

  • Integrate test automation into the CI/CD pipeline and increase the organization's speed to market

  • Manual test application components where automation is not a good fit

  • Make recommendations on how our current testing processes can be improved

  • Mentor team members in testing strategies and automation design patterns

  • Build, deploy, run & manage the application individually Influence the development, program management, & design teams on technical implementation and user scenarios


  • Quality Assurance Process Skillset - Test Estimation, Test case Preparation, Test Execution, Defect Management

  • Proven experience designing and creating automation frameworks and test suites

  • Experience in building automation test harnesses using Selenium 2&3

  • Experience with Agile-Scrum and other Agile methodologies

  • Experience in advanced UI automation for web or native applications

  • Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little to no supervision

  • Good analytical skills to work with developers for troubleshooting and peer review

  • Proactive in learning new tools/techniques

  • Effective written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently handle complex problems
