The Big Ten Network (BTN) is seeking a Streaming Freelancer (B1G+) based in Chicago. The Streaming Freelancer (B1G+) will work closely with Big Ten Network Digital and key streaming stakeholders (Production, Operations, Big Ten Athletic Departments, external vendors) to maintain and support the delivery of streaming products (B1G+, FOX Sports App) across websites, mobile platforms and connected TV/consoles. The Streaming Freelancer will also support the scheduling and day-to-day execution of B1G+ email marketing campaigns. This is a 6-month freelance position (January – June) offering up to 40 hours per week. This position will report to the Director of Streaming and will be based out of Big Ten Network’s Chicago, Illinois office.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide quality control (QC) for the front-end consumer experience to ensure correct video and ad experience is delivered during live events on BTN’s streaming platforms (B1G+, FOX Sports App)
Edit and manage B1G+ events schedule for live streaming with external vendors
Effectively communicate event schedule changes to BTN streaming stakeholders and external partners (Athletic Departments, external vendors)
Update home page of BTN’s streaming platform to ensure presentation/awareness of correct live events
Support numerous content validation efforts, checking availability and playability for published video records across a variety of device platforms and services
Manage and coordinate inbound customer service requests with internal and external stakeholders from request to deployment
Support the coordination and administration of B1G+ email campaigns
Continuously test, analyze and optimize emails to increase open rates, click-through rates, and other key email marketing metrics
Compile and tracking digital advertising inventory reports to ensure execution and delivery goals are achieved
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Experience working in sports
Knowledge of streaming apps on digital platforms and consumer products
Experience supporting content marketing and promotional strategies
Familiarity with content management system (CMS) publishing workflows
Strategic knowledge and familiarity with streaming media platforms and services
Must be a proactive problem solver with the ability to prioritize and concurrently handle multiple, time-sensitive requests within a high-pressure environment
MUST be able to work non-traditional hours, which will include nights and weekends
Possess extensive knowledge of all things relevant to Big Ten Athletics
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in digital required
