Fox Business is looking for a Managing Editor in Washington, DC. As the Managing Editor, you are a strong journalist who will be the first line of defense for breaking news. You will coordinate the work of the reporters, field producers, media desk, digital desk, and affiliates to provide all shows with content.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify and enterprise, in advance, the stories the show producers will want
Pitch and oversee the execution of political stories for a business and general news audience
Lead by example and provide guidance to the full assignment desk on breaking and developing coverage
Supervise and work with assignment editors and producers when it comes to assigning, moving, and adjusting crew coverage to keep the network competitive at all times
Collaborate with reporters on logistics, element gathering, and storytelling
Confirm editorial information for air and planning
Monitor wires and social media for breaking news and stories
Locate new video, fresh sound for ongoing stories and make reporters and field crews aware of what is available
Receive pitches from reporters and producers and determine which ones are on-brand
Work with Fox Business and Fox News executives & bureau chiefs to coordinate stories
Plan ahead and execute on big stories and events
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in Network or major market news gathering and experience supervising a team
Understanding of tape-less workflow in a newsroom
Familiarity with iNews
Strong editorial judgment
A passion for current and breaking business news events
Ability to find business news stories and identify where to get the latest editorial information
An instinct for problem-solving

A Bachelor’s degree and/or relevant work experience
