JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a super Booker! Our show, WSJ at Large with Gerry Baker, is a unique program in cable television that requires “A list” guests each week who will talk for a half hour about the biggest topics of the day with host Gerry Baker.  We need a real “go-getter” who is challenged to find the very best possible guests and go the extra mile to book them.  In addition, the candidate must be able to help in the production of each broadcast, including but not limited to cutting video, making graphics, working in the control room and posting show clips on social media.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify top tier guests, cultivate relationships and confirm bookings for the show
  • Work on production elements on the show
  • Pitch stories daily
  • Conduct pre-interviews and in-depth research on wide range of topics
  • Work closely with show’s producer, talent and management to ensure topical and relevant shows and guests are delivered each week
  • Assist in the control room
  • Post show clips and write blurbs for social media sites

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A bachelor’s degree and or relevant work experience
  • Natural ability to write effectively and creatively
  • 3 years of professional experience in a live television environment
  • Thorough knowledge of business news and general news
  • Strong booking background 
  • Strong editorial judgment
  • Strong research and reporting skills
  • Ability to work under intense deadline pressure in the control room
  • Ability to communicate effectively
