JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a self-starting and hardworking Freelance Associate Producer to join our primetime team in our Washington D.C Bureau! As the Freelance Associate Producer, you are responsible for helming a segment from top to bottom. This includes research packets, element production, pre-interviews with guests, banner writing among other tasks. The job allows you to be part of the #1 show in all of cable news at 10:00 pm and a perennially top 5 program overall. This is a HUGE opportunity!

You will be offered the following shift: WEEKDAYS (3:00 PM-11:00 PM)

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create research packet each night for a specific segment
  • Cut and drop elements, write banners for a specific segment
  • Continually monitor wires, social media, competing networks, and so on for up to the minute news.
  • Pitch stories and guests on a daily basis.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • At least 3 years of experience in a broadcast environment (preferably cable news)
  • Strong editorial judgement with knowledge of current national and international politics
  • A self-starter attitude paired with the ability to work independently, as well as a team player
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multitask, and prioritize on a daily basis, especially in breaking news situations
  • Strong communications skills
  • Familiarity with iNews, Outlook and VIZ systems
