JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox Corporation is looking for a Director, Engineering to join our emerging technology team, Blockchain Creative Labs. This product engineering and tech team, spread across the US, India and London, plays a crucial role in bringing our innovative solutions to life. To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a Director, Engineering who is not only a seasoned technologist but also a strong leader.

As the Director, Engineering, you will lead by example and be an integral part of our product engineering and tech team. Approximately 60% of your time will be dedicated to hands-on engineering work, ensuring the quality and timely delivery of projects. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and increase the velocity of delivery while unblocking your team and maximizing their potential. You will be deeply passionate about technical excellence and have a track record of consistently striving for it throughout your career. 

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Technical Leadership: Lead by example in engineering projects, demonstrating deep expertise in front-end Web development, particularly using React and TypeScript. AWS microservices

• Velocity Enhancement: Work collaboratively with your team to identify bottlenecks, unblock issues, and implement best practices to enhance project velocity

• Team Management: Manage a team of 4-10 engineers, potentially in different time zones, fostering their growth and development while ensuring project success

• Stakeholder Communication: Act as the bridge between your technical team and non-technical stakeholders, translating technical complexities into understandable terms and ensuring alignment with project goals

• Project Collaboration: Collaborate on projects involving external partners and internal stakeholders, demonstrating your ability to navigate diverse teams and interests

• Adaptability: Thrive in a less structured environment, being flexible and adaptive to changing priorities and challenges

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining highly available web infrastructure and backend applications where uptime and security is the highest priority

• Hands on experience building and designing fault-tolerant applications with a focus on usage of IaC solutions, experience with AWS CDK preferred

• Experience building applications with React, TypeScript, Python, and scripting languages

• Experience building fault tolerant APIs with GraphQL, AppSync experience preferred

• Hands on-experience architecting and building application infrastructure on AWS (using services such as IAM, API Gateway, S3, Dynamodb, EventBridge, AppSync, Step Functions, SQS, SNS, VPC, Lambda) and to inform decision-making about good choices of infrastructure for our applications

• Hands-on R&D Engineering Experience: Demonstrated experience in researching, designing, and developing cutting-edge solutions in emerging technologies such as AI and Web3 (eg Python, Solidity, TensorFlow, PyTorch). You have a track record of pushing the boundaries of technology and exploring innovative approaches

• Passion for learning and achieving operational excellence

• Knowledge of the infrastructure and protocols behind video, broadcast and streaming media systems would be a plus
