JOB DESCRIPTION

The Fox Corp. Labor and Employment Department is seeking a Legal Assistant to provide a broad range of administrative and legal support to a team of two attorneys and a paralegal, who handle employment-related lawsuits against Fox Corp. business units, advise various business units on employment law matters, and conduct training and seminars for employees. 

The ideal candidate is highly efficient, detail-oriented and organized; has excellent time management and communications skills; and is adept at researching, gathering and analyzing information. Hands-on litigation support experience at a law firm or in a corporate legal department (including filing documents in courts; preparing discovery pleadings and document productions; and the like) is preferred, but not required.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage call activity, including taking/directing calls and messages with an appropriate sense of timing and urgency.
  • Manage and organize incoming and outgoing correspondence, case files and other case-related documents.
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars and keep track of litigation and other deadlines. 
  • Coordinate and schedule multi-party meetings.
  • Interact with a wide variety of individuals inside and outside the company to exchange information as needed to fulfill tasks and assignments.
  • Assist attorneys with word processing functions as needed.
  • Prepare presentation materials using Word, PowerPoint, etc. 
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and prepare expense reports.
  • Other litigation and administrative duties as needed (e.g., preparing pleadings, motions and other documents, preparing discovery pleadings and shells, preparing document productions, preparing and coordinating service of subpoenas, etc.)

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking, prioritization and organizational skills.
  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Outstanding and professional interpersonal skills, including excellent phone demeanor.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior grammar, spelling, editing and proofing skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and integrity.  
  • 2-4 years of experience at a major law firm or in-house legal group that handles litigation preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Westlaw, Legal Solutions, Pacer and CM/ECF preferred but not required.
