JOB DESCRIPTION

Fox News is looking for a Satellite & Field Engineer to join our team based out of the Chicago Bureau.  In this role, you will be provided countless opportunities to work alongside Field Operations, Production and Field Engineering during breaking news and planned events.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Uplink/downlink satellite feeds and fiber transmissions

• Set up ENG liveshots and multi-camera shows

• Maintain SNV both technically and mechanically

• Chicago Bureau Operations and Maintenance

• Work in team environment on large scale field productions

• Operate other SNVs throughout our fleet when breaking news requires

• Safely drive company-owned and rental vehicles

• Extensive, last-minute travel for breaking news

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• 3+ years of newsgathering or Field Engineering experience

• Working knowledge of computers including basic networking

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Willing to expand his/her knowledge of all aspects of field production

• Ability to multi-task in the field in a high stress breaking news environment

• Varied technical TV media experience that will translate well into the fast-paced field newsgathering environment

• Experience with lighting technologies, fiber, routers and satellite transmission equipment

• Must have a clean driving record, commercial driver’s license preferred

• Willing to be trained to drive a larger vehicle

• Flexible work schedule to adapt to a 24-hour news organization, including overtime and weekends

• Requires some heavy lifting of gear

• Valid passport for potential international assignments
