The FOX Consumer Products & Engineering (CPE) group is looking for a skilled and innovative technical product owner with strong leadership skills to lead the video entitlement and playback API squad, on a contract/freelance basis. As part of our rapidly growing team, you will have the opportunity to shape and execute the entitlements and playback product roadmap for TV Everywhere and Direct to Consumer (D2C) products. You will serve as a liaison between key stakeholders within the FOX organization to help define and prioritize features in relation to user authentication, playback authorization, and anti-piracy measures. You should have a demonstrable track record of successfully conceptualizing and launching APIs for multi-platform (web, mobile, connected tv) services. You must be a self-motivated, team player partnering with various product and engineering managers across the organization to contribute to the overall business objectives of the organization.


  • Develop and own the product vision and roadmap for the video entitlements system for TV Everywhere and D2C subscription and PPV apps
  • Collaborate and communicate with your colleagues keeping all up-to-date on team goals, timelines and progress
  • Responsible for architecting and delivering solutions for playback entitlements and playback entitlement enforcement (parental controls, concurrency limits, location), station/Nielsen DMA management, and piracy prevention
  • Constantly improve customer satisfaction, usability, reliability and operational efficiency by continually monitoring KPIs and finding opportunities to increase engagement and reduce friction for viewers
  • Measure the right KPIs that will help stakeholders and the tech team identify what they have as levers to drive positive change
  • Implement A/B testing strategies to test hypotheses and drive innovation
  • Act as the key liaison between client, video (live and VOD) and other backend engineering teams to gather requirements to feed into and prioritize the entitlements system roadmap
  • Partner with stakeholders (internal and external), engineering leads, and program management for sprint planning and expectation management
  • Translate business requirements into conceptual and detailed technical user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Provide documentation and training for developers to promote adoption of entitlement APIs
  • Drive complex decisions involving multiple stakeholders with potentially diverging opinions
  • Deeply understand the technology behind our various entitlement systems, and become an expert in what technology and approaches are used in the market


  • 2+ years of experience as a product owner in an Agile development organization
  • At least 4 years working with APIs in a technical product manager, software architect, developer, and/or quality assurance capacity
  • Solid track record of technical acumen, being able to quickly understand technical details of a product or platform with a strong understanding of SOA and microservice architecture industry best practices
  • Fluency architecting and documenting APIs at multiple levels (high-level to detailed) and across multiple views (conceptual, logical, physical, data flow and sequence diagrams)
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to motivate others to lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to establish and manage effective working relationships in a matrixed organizational structure
  • Strong communication and executive presentation skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to communicate well to both technical and business audiences

Great to Have

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably in a technology related field) or equivalent work experience
  • Extensive experience working on video streaming applications and platforms
  • A working knowledge of CTS MPX and Adobe Primetime
