JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a Freelance Stage Manager to join our New York Bureau. As a Freelance Stage Manager you work on a team to move a show from inception to closing. You have great organizational skills and effortlessly adjust to the constant changes in a live studio environment.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Anticipate production changes during live and taped programming
  • Lead the production crew in the studio while keeping on air talent at ease
  • Teach others stage managing techniques and have a high attention to detail 
  • Understand all of the technical demands of a production: lights, sound, props, set changes, and special effects
  • Set up the stage and making sure it is correctly positioned for assigned show
  • Listening to directors cues and guidance
  • Breaking down set and putting everything back to its appropriate space/location

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Three to five years' professional experience in live television stage-managing
  • Familiarity with the dynamics of a live studio environment
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of a live broadcast
  • Ability to work well with a team
  • Strong fundamental understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilities
  • Ability to provide accurate instructions to stage personnel during live broadcasts
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
