JOB DESCRIPTION

The Corporate Business and Legal Affairs team sits at the center of Fox’s Entertainment, Sports, Broadcast, Studio Operations and Technology businesses, providing transactional support to our divisions as we transform television for the digital age through game changing acquisitions and investments in cutting edge technology and media companies. The Director, Business and Legal Affairs is a resource for internal attorneys and executives providing expertise to Fox’s divisions. The Director also drafts, negotiates and analyzes agreements ranging from strategic business transactions, technology and network operations, marketing, facilities and day-to-day operations.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze, negotiate, and draft a variety of complex legal agreements, stock and asset purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, software and hardware licensing agreements and a wide range of critical vendor agreements
  • Transaction support for acquisitions and dispositions, joint ventures and equity investments
  • Advise company executives in all business segments on the legal interpretation of key affiliation and transaction agreements
  • Prepare marketing, sweepstakes, consulting, independent contractor, and non-disclosure agreements

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Juris Doctor degree and active member of California bar strongly preferred; Will consider those eligible for Registered In-House Counsel status (Rule 9.46)
  • At least 3 to 5 years of transactional legal experience (law firm and/or in-house media company experience with an emphasis on investments in and acquisition of technology focused startup companies strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of broadcast and digital technology, television distribution platforms, direct to consumer and new media platforms, intellectual property and related agreements
  • Ability to support deals involving multiple, highly complex sets of agreements, manage multiple projects at one time and creatively solve problems while working under pressure
  • Excellent reasoning, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Advanced proficiency using Word
  • Ability to work well with clients and peers
